There is so many myths about depression .People need to understand that depression and sadness is not just one and the same thing.Depression is more than sadness. It is a mental condition, it is an illness. It is not just something in some one's head.Depression affects someone both mentally and physically.Depression affects everyone both women and men .Even though women are more likely to suffer from depression , men should not suffer in silence too.Real men experince depression too , it doesnt make them a lesser man.Actually most men refuse to seek treatment and end up turning to alcohol and recreational drugs which makes the condition worse and had to treat.
Even though one of the known causes of depression is genetic inheritance it doesnt mean just because your parents have it then you will be depressed by default .The risk is actually relatively small.
Antidepressants is not all you need to get better.Getting better is a process and one will need more than just medicines to heal.
Lastly dont be afraid to talk about it and get help.It wont be easy but it is the first step and it will help people understand you more .
